Overview / Summary

From Victoria Williams’ 1994 album, Loose, which also includes the great song “Crazy Mary”. The song is mostly 3 descending chords and gospel lyrics. The backing vocals really raise the song, the same way a choir singing religious music would. The original version had a horn section; here most of those parts are covered by 1 lead guitar.

The main backing vocals mirror the chorus lyrics (“You are loved, you are loved, you are re-e-eally loved”) with 
A-B-C#----A-B-C#----A-B---C#-D-C#--B-A-----  below 
E-F#-A----E-F#-A----E-F#--A--B-A---G-F#-E-D.

I worked out the acoustic chords in the tunings I used to record the Sinatra songs (where the halfsteps between each string are: 4-3-2-3-4 instead of the standard guitar tuning.s: 5-5-5-4-5 - more about that here.) The lead guitar was a JTV-59 Variax.s 1961 Gibson ES-335 (“Semi”, bridge) -> Line 6’s Budda Superdrive amp (“2001 Zen Master” at 107/127 drive), 1/8 delay, with a Herdim pick held sideways to get the punchy/scratchy sound.
